GPNA Accepting 2006 Officer & Chair Nominations At October Meeting

GPNA will accept nominations for 2006 officers and chairs at the GPNA meeting on Tuesday, October 18th. The positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Technology Chair, Parks Chair, Transportation Chair, Historical Chair, Publicy Safety Chair, Economic Development Chair, Land Use & Zoning Chair, Education & Children's IssuesChair, Mothball Chair, and Tour of Homes Chair. Jeff Rogers, current GPNA President, will take nominations via e-mail through the November GPNA meeting. For more information, contact Jeff Rogers, President.

GPNA Historical Committee Meeting Tuesday, October 11th

The GPNA Historical Committee meets Tuesday, October 9th at 7:00pm at 609 Grant Street. The Historical Committee is currently documenting the renovation of 483 Atlanta Avenue. The Committee also needs volunteers to interview former Grant Park residents for the Oral History Project and to transcribe the taped interviews. Grant Park notecards featuring images from eight historic Grant Park postcards are now available for $10.00 and the Committee will be discussing display options and venues to sell the notecards. A joint meeting with the Land Use & Zoning Committee to discuss historic regulations is planned for October 20th.

Sowers & Growers Garden Club Wednesday, October 12th

Sowers & Growers Garden Club - an informal group and open to all who are interested in gardening no matter your sex, race, gardening experience or neighborhood.

GPNA Executive Committee Meeting Sunday, October 16th

GPNA Officers and Committee Chairs meet the third Sunday of each month at the Grant Park Conservancy (GPC) Headquarters to prepare agenda items for the GPNA meeting the following Tuesday. For more information, please contact Jeff Rogers, President, at [email protected].

Re-Zoning for 'Cherokee Lots' Coming Before GPNA in October

The property subject to proposed re-zoning is on Cherokee Avenue, from Augusta Avenue to Grant Park Place. This property is owned by Zoo Atlanta, which has been seeking to sell the property. About two years ago, a potential developer sought to purchase the property and applied for re-zoning but its development proposal was not accepted by the neighborhood and they withdrew their application.
