Join in the festivities this weekend! September 27-28, 2003

Detailed Event Schedule!

2003 Moth Ball - Dinner, Dancing and More

For an enchanting Saturday night under the stars (actually, under a big ol' tent under the stars), come party ukulele-style with Tongo Hiti at Zoo Atlanta for Moth Ball 2003 on Sept. 27th (from 7:30pm 'til midnight). This year's Moth Ball is sportin' a Polynesian theme and there's no better band to provide the exotica vibes than Kris Dale's Tongo Hiti, fronted by the "Big Kahuna" Mike Geier and Amy "The Pearl" Pike.

The Dames Aflame dancers will also be there to perform a few numbers and join y'all on the dance floor for shakin' yer grass. Don't worry, we've hired extra security to keep Monkey Zuma from flingin' poi and raisin' all kindsa missin' link hell with her pals from the Monkeys of Mokokou exhibit (in case you were havin' any reservations).

Speakin' of poi, there will also be all-you-can-eat buffets of tasty treats provided Six Feet Under, Grant Central, Thai East Atlanta and Dakota Blue. And I heard tell that Big Mike will be raffling off one-of-a-kind blender drinks in decorative, um...glasses. These "glasses" can be kept as souvenirs by the lucky raffle winners (that is, if they can fit 'em in their cars). Apparently, this raffle is part of the band's effort to appease its namesake "Tongo Hiti" (the Polynesian Hang-over Demon). The blender drink ritual is the least-bloody of the human sacrifices that could be performed, so count your blessings if your number's drawn and take one (or three or four) for the team!

Come hungry and thirsty and limber (gonna be a limbo contest with prizes, sho'nuff). And dress in yer most outrageous tiki attire (aarrrr, even pirates are welcome).

For advanced tickets to the Moth Ball 2003, call Erika Brown at Adams Realtors 404-688-1222 or click on the order link at the bottom of the page to order online. Tables are still available. Aloha!

Work by Pat Berryhill - One of five local artists featured on the tour
Pat Berryhill is a self-taught mixed media artist living in Grant Park. She has exhibited her work in galleries and group shows throughout the Atlanta area since 1990. She takes found objects - old photos, buttons, tin cans, trash found on the streets - and combines them to create evocative images. These images can be sentimental, moody and dark or just plain wacky! (Perhaps it's the glue fumes...) Recently, Pat has branched out into whimsical painted furniture that is suitable for either children or young-at-heart adults. (View more Art!)
